Join us for an evening of music as Michael Kuehn performs Bird Songs at Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden. Composed over the course of ten years, Bird Songs is an instrumental piano suite by Michael Kuehn which is accompanied by the bird photography of his wife, Hazel. They have spent countless hours together on nature trails finding, identifying, and photographing birds. The inspiring visuals Hazel captures find their sonic counterpart in Michael’s compositions. One part music, one part photography, and one part poetry, Bird Songs is a multifaceted artistic celebration of our feathered friends. Following the performance, enjoy light refreshments on the Patio Terrace with Kuehn's.
Tickets are $15 per person, advance purchase required.
About Michael & Hazel Kuehn
Michael and Hazel grew up in High Point, and now live in Kernersville with their three daughters. Hazel is a fine arts graduate from UNC Greensboro and a professional photographer. Her work has been featured across the Triad in galleries and publications such as Southwinds Gallery (Kernersville, NC) and the Winston-Salem Journal. Michael studied music and religion at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, and is the Director of Worship and Education at Grace Kernersville. He is also co-founder of the faith and arts group Almond Tree Artist Collective. He has been a part of the North Carolina music scene for over ten years as a songwriter, performer, and producer. In the very rare moments when the cameras and instruments are set aside, they are either on a playful adventure with their kids or testing out new recipes in the kitchen – and even then, sometimes cameras and instruments are still involved!
